Leather & Suede: Q & A

1. Do cat or animal urine smells come out of the apparel after the cleaning process?
Yes, in most cases the smell will come out of the item. However, if cat urine, dog urine or cat spray is on a leather or suede item, this should be pointed out to your driver. It takes a special process, and sometimes in extreme cases there can be shrinkage or color damage to the item.

2. Can a leather or suede be spot cleaned only?
Yes, in most cases as long as there is not butter, grease, or oil, and the apparel is not badly soiled.

3. Can you change the color of my leather jacket?
No, we can not change the color of any skins once the skins are constructed into apparel. There is too big of a shrinkage factor. We can however, restore the original color of all smooth leather apparel.

4. Can you professionally clean a suede or leather purse?
Most manufactures of purses do not recommend the cleaning of any suede or leather purses. We will clean the purse at the risk of the customer, but in some cases we do not recommend that it be done. Multi-colors bleed, cardboard turns hard or looses shape, glue comes through, and there is shrinkage we can not restore. Over all, the purse loses its shape.

5. Does suede and leather apparel shrink in the cleaning process?
Yes, in all suede and leather apparel there is some shrinkage. Though the shrinkage is very slight in most cases, there are a few extreme cases of shrinkage, and we do our best to restore the relaxed skins. The customer can usually bring the shape back to the leather with body heat.

6. Does ink come out of Suede and leather apparel?
Sometimes ink can be taken out of suede and leather apparel, but that depends on how much the ink has penetrated into the skins. If ink is on suede or pigskin suede and is deep in the skin, there is a good possibility that when we remove the ink it may cause damage to the skins or the color around the area of the ink.

7. Does it help to water repel or scotch guard my suede or leather jacket?
Yes, although the apparel should not be worn in a heavy rain, a light mist or sprinkle is fine. The scotch guard will protect the skins from soils and spills that may get deep in the skins. The scotch guard will make it easy to remove the soils, or spills from the skins in the cleaning process.

8. Why is there an up charge for high-end designer labels?
These designer labels usually have to be done by one person. A total walk through item with special needs takes more time and materials to process.

9. Can you replace the panel in a leather or suede jacket?
Yes, we can as long as we can match the skins and the color. If we can not match the skins we abstract with a different color and make a design so the apparel looks like it was constructed that way.
